Ein großartiges Werk - mittelmäßig verarbeitet
Mir geht es um diese spezielle Ausgabe. Ich hatte sie für den Urlaub gekauft, und dafür war sie auch recht gut geeignet, da es eben einfacher ist, ein Buch mitzunehmen statt drei. Leider ist sie nach einmaligem Lesen aber auch dahin.
Der Druck war noch nie schön, auch nicht als das Buch nagelneu war, aber inzwischen verläuft die Tinte, der Einband löst sich auf und die Seiten (besser gesagt das verwendete Papier) sind unfaßbar anfällig für kleine Flecken. Und dabei gehe ich mit Büchern sehr sorgsam um!

Drei Sterne bekommt diese Ausgabe von mir nur, weil sie den vollständigen Appendix der Trilogie (inklusive der Karten) enthält, sowie den Prolog und einige Vorwörter.

Wer "Lord of the Rings" nur mal lesen möchte, um mitreden zu können, dem kann ich diese Ausgabe trotz allem empfehlen.
Wer vor hat, das Buch nachher noch schön ins Regal zu stellen, sollte sich lieber eine andere Ausgabe zulegen, zum Beispiel das sehr schöne Boxset mit drei Bänden.

Sehr gutes Buch im klapprigen Gewand
Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen den Herrn der Ringe auf Englisch zu lesen! Die wundervolle Sprache Tolkiens, die Dichte und Atmosphäre dieses Buches kann nun mal keine deutsche Übersetzung vermitteln. Tolkien bedient sich zwar einiger Wörter die den Griff zum Wörterbuch unabdingbar machen, jedoch lohnt sich die Mühe! Einzig das Papier dieser Ausgabe schmälert den Genuss, denn zu langes Festhalten der Seiten wird sofort mit einem dicken Fleck bestraft. Trotzdem sage ich allen die nach einem guten Buch suchen und etwas Zeit (für 1200 Seiten) mitbringen: Kauft dieses Buch!

This rare edition is really the most beautiful edition i have ever seen. espeacially the coloured pictues and the absolutly high quality white paper will make you exhilarated.

bei diesem Buch handelt es sich um wohl die shönste aller sondereditionen. insbesondere die colorierten Bilder und der wirklich qualitativ hochwertigen und absolut weißen seiten werden beim lesen freude bereiten. ein wirklich würdiges buch zum 5osten geburtstag dieser geschichte, gedruckt im harper collins verlag UK.
